    Summary

    This study reports two cases of partial seizures with periodic electroencephalogram (EEG) patterns. Findings suggest these patterns can arise from brain metastases or subclinical seizure activity in idiopathic hypoparathyroidism.

    Background:

    • Case 2: A 61-year-old woman with idiopathic hypoparathyroidism experienced partial complex seizures with an anterior temporal spike focus and a periodic EEG pattern in the right temporal region, without detectable structural brain abnormalities.

    Findings:

    • Periodic EEG patterns can be associated with both structural brain lesions (e.g., metastasis) and functional abnormalities (e.g., subclinical seizure discharges in metabolic disorders).
