Abstract:
Chronic total occlusions (CTOs) represent one of the most challenging lesion types in interventional cardiology. Despite advances in equipment and techniques, success rates still depend on accurate lesion assessment and planning. Although coronary angiography is still the standard imaging method, it produces only 2 dimensional images and offers limited information about the occlusion's characteristics. Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) offers a comprehensive 3 dimensional visualization of the coronary anatomy, including occluded segments. By reliably depicting the CTO's proximal cap morphology, length, calcification, and tortuosity, CCTA has established itself as a useful tool in planning CTO interventions.
