Abstract:
The heterologous expression of unidentified gene clusters is a strategy for obtaining new natural products. Acyltransferases in polyketide synthases (PKSs) are responsible for loading extender units. Notably, the type I PKS biosynthetic gene cluster kse obtained from Kitasatospora setae ΔksbA features the alkylmalonyl-CoA-accepting acyltransferase domain. The heterologous expression of kse clusters produces new compounds designated as JBIR-160-166. Herein, we report the heterologous expression, isolation, and structure determination of these compounds.
