Abstract:
Complex wounds unsuitable for skin grafting or flap reconstruction are increasingly managed with the use of dermal substitutes. NovoSorb biodegradable temporizing matrix has successfully been used in the management of complex wounds, but its use directly over exposed joints has not been documented in the literature. We discuss the successful use of biodegradable temporizing matrix in a complex dorsal foot wound with an exposed first metatarsal-cuneiform joint in a 57-year-old patient with diabetes with 1-vessel runoff.
