Pathogenic PF4/Polyvinylsulfonate ELISA-negative Antibodies in HIT

Some patients with heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) test negative on ELISA assays. These ELISA-negative HIT patients still have platelet-activating antibodies and can experience adverse events upon heparin re-exposure.
