  • 9,232 adult FM patients (ACR criteria) were matched with 46,160 controls.
  • Endocrine disorders identified via ICD-9 codes; multivariable logistic regression used for analysis.

Main Results:

  • FM patients had significantly higher rates of thyroid disorders (Hashimoto's, Graves'), diabetes (Type 1 & 2), osteoporosis, and vitamin D deficiency.
  • Increased odds of Cushing's syndrome and prolactinoma were observed in FM patients.

Conclusions:

  • This study reveals a significant association between fibromyalgia and a wide range of endocrine comorbidities.

  • Further research is needed to explore causal links and the potential benefit of endocrine screening in FM.
