On-Demand Regulation Afterglow Color of Carbonized Polymer Dot-Based Circularly Polarized Long Afterglow in Aqueous

Abstract:
Circularly polarized long afterglow (CPLA) materials are a research frontier in the field of chiral luminescence. As a kind of luminescent carbon material with easy preparation and good biocompatibility, carbonized polymer dots (CPDs) are ideal candidates for constructing CPLA materials. However, because the triplet excitons are easily quenched in aqueous solutions and the afterglow color is primarily limited to short wavelengths, it is still a great challenge to construct CPD-based CPLA materials with tunable afterglow color in aqueous solutions. In this work, the prepared chiral afterglow CPDs were encapsulated into a silica layer to achieve blue CPLA in aqueous solutions. Furthermore, we established a universal approach to construct CPD-based CPLA materials with a tunable afterglow color in aqueous solutions via synergistic energy and chirality transfer. This study will open up a new path for the application of CPD-based CPLA materials in water environments.
