Case Summary:
An 80-year-old man underwent transcatheter edge-to-edge repair and experienced subsequent acute deoxygenation. Transesophageal echocardiography revealed a right-to-left shunt, which improved after effective pharmacotherapy.
Take-Home Messages:
Acute right ventricular failure after transcatheter edge-to-edge repair may cause right-to-left shunt. Given effective pharmacotherapy, iatrogenic atrial septal defect closure is not definitively indicated.
