Summary
This study reports the first case of a BCOR internal tandem duplication (ITD) in an IDH-mutant WHO grade 4 astrocytoma. This finding expands the known genetic landscape of high-grade astrocytomas.
Area of Science:
- Neuro-oncology
- Molecular Biology
- Genetics
Background:
- BCOR (BCL9 Oncogene) is a transcriptional regulator involved in tumorigenesis via polycomb repressive complex 1 (PRC1).
- BCOR alterations are documented in various brain tumors, but not previously in IDH-mutant WHO grade 4 astrocytoma.
