Healthcare utilization data from piedmont, Italy: An administrative dataset of care episodes (2019-2024)

Abstract:
The presented dataset comprises administrative healthcare records from the Local Health Authority of Alba and Bra, located in the Piedmont region of Italy, spanning the period from January 2019 to April 2024. It includes detailed records of inpatient admissions, ambulatory and emergency visits, residential care, home-based services, hospice care, and medication use. The dataset includes healthcare records for approximately 175 K patients, covering over 2.8 M ambulatory visits, 94 K inpatient episodes, 252 K emergency episodes, and 952 K medication-related events. It also contains 9.8 K residential assessments, 82 K home care events, and over 230 hospice care records. The dataset has been curated to support reuse by researchers interested in healthcare delivery, service utilization, and the impact of health events as the COVID-19 pandemic. Access to the dataset is available upon request, subject to ethical review.
