The Journal of Experimental Psychology: Animal Learning and Cognition (JEP:ALC) remains the leading outlet for research on animal learning and cognition. This editorial outlines initiatives to strengthen the journal's role in advancing the field, including the introduction of a new section, Outlook, which provides brief, accessible reviews of groundbreaking studies published in high-impact journals. JEP:ALC continues to emphasize theory-driven, rigorous empirical work across all domains of learning and cognition, welcoming studies with nonhuman animals, comparative analyses, computational approaches, and neuroscience perspectives. The journal encourages submissions on diverse topics such as associative and nonassociative learning, memory, attention, problem solving, social cognition, and decision making. To foster innovation and inclusivity, the editorial board now reflects balanced expertise in associative learning and cognition, with increased representation of women, international scholars, and early-career researchers through programs like the APA Editorial Fellowship.
