AI-Powered Virtual Patient for Chiropractic Training- An MR and NLP Based Approach

Chiropractic interns often find it difficult to deal with real patients, especially when taking patient history. Repeatedly asking the same questions can irritate patients, leading to negative responses or behaviors that make chiropractic interns hesitant to ask relevant questions. This hesitation prolongs the time required for interns to train themselves in understanding real patient behavior. To overcome this issue, we have introduced an AI-based patient using Natural Language Processing that can help chiropractic interns to train without the stress of being judged or causing irritation to real patients, allowing them to have virtual yet safe and controlled interaction. As the research was developed with the support of the New Zealand College of Chiropractic (NZCC), it primarily focuses on chiropractic education; however, it has the potential to be adapted for other healthcare professionals who also require effective patient interaction skills. This approach can increase the efficiency of training, boost clinical confidence and improve skills before interacting with real patients.
