Triphase Focus MagRing-MPI: An All-Electric Scanner for Human-Scale Magnetic Particle Imaging
Abstract:
Magnetic particle imaging (MPI) devices are currently advancing toward human-scale applications. We propose a novel electrically scanned field-free line (FFL) MPI architecture suitable for human-scale imaging. This design utilizes three annular gradient coil pairs to generate an electrically controllable FFL gradient field for the spatial encoding of magnetic particles. The scanner is designed with a 200 mm bore diameter and a gradient strength of 1.6 T/m. By controlling the currents in the gradient coil pairs, the FFL can be rotated and translated within the radial plane. Axial scanning is achieved via adjacent gradient coils along the axial direction. Simulations demonstrate that the designed scanner achieves human-scale electrically-driven scanning with a power consumption of 63.6 kW and can perform three-dimensional imaging within seconds.
