Background:

Implicit bias and structural racism create significant inequities in pediatric healthcare.
These disparities lead to poorer health outcomes for children.
Educating healthcare providers is crucial to address these issues.

Purpose of the Study:

To assess the feasibility and acceptability of Health Equity Rounds (HER) in a Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) setting.
To evaluate the impact of HER on healthcare providers' understanding and practice.
To explore participants' experiences with HER.

Main Methods:

Two HERs were conducted focusing on implicit bias and linguistic barriers.
A mixed-methods approach included online surveys and semi-structured interviews.
Cases were selected based on negative impact on patient care and relevance to topics.

Main Results:

HERs were well-attended with moderate survey uptake.
A majority of participants found HER engaging and believed it would impact their clinical practice.
Qualitative interviews revealed satisfaction, influence on service provision, and ideas for future sessions.

Conclusions:

Health Equity Rounds (HER) are an acceptable and feasible educational forum in PEM.
HER facilitates discussion and reflective practice on critical health equity topics.
Further exploration of HER in other settings and with different topics is recommended.
