The Farsi version of the Effortless Perfectionism Scale (EPS) demonstrates good psychometric properties for assessing perfectionism in Iranian students. It correlates positively with perfectionistic self-presentation and negatively with life satisfaction.
Area of Science:
- Psychology
- Psychometrics
Background:
- Introduced the Effortless Perfectionism Scale (EPS), a 10-item self-report measure.
- Focus on assessing the psychometric properties of the Farsi version of the EPS.
Purpose of the Study:
- To evaluate the psychometric validity and reliability of the Farsi translation of the EPS.
- To determine if the EPS is a suitable instrument for the Iranian population.
Main Methods:
- Descriptive-correlational design with 267 university students.
- Used Perfectionistic Self-Presentation Scale (PSPS), Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS), and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) for concurrent validity.
- Statistical analyses performed using SPSS and AMOS.
Main Results:
- Face and content validity confirmed suitability for Iranian students.
- Confirmatory factor analysis supported construct validity with good model fit.
- Reliability was acceptable (Cronbach's alpha = 0.885).
- Significant positive correlations found with perfectionistic self-presentation, depression, anxiety, and stress.
- Significant negative correlation observed between EPS and life satisfaction.
Conclusions:
- The Farsi EPS exhibits good psychometric properties.
- It is a reliable instrument for studying perfectionism characteristics in the Iranian population.
- A notable negative correlation was found between EPS and life satisfaction.
