Multidisciplinary Approach to Management of the Anterior Teeth: A Case Study

Restoration of the anterior teeth is a clinical challenge that involves aesthetic considerations, occlusal rehabilitation, and may affect articulation. We present a case of a 31-year-old female patient who reported 6 months of recurrent gingival swelling and bleeding around the left maxillary anterior teeth. This was a case of gingival recession of the anterior teeth that required functional reconstruction in the aesthetic zone. The patient was treated for gingival recession and recurrent gingival inflammation around the anterior teeth caused by faulty prostheses. Treatment involved a multidisciplinary approach, which included coronally advanced flap and tunnel techniques in conjunction with connective tissue grafting, a concurrent frenectomy, crown lengthening, root canal, minor tooth movement, and crown restoration. This comprehensive approach successfully retained the affected anterior teeth and restored their function and aesthetics. The treatment plan was minimally invasive and cost-effective, with satisfactory long-term outcomes. Notably, despite initially positive outcomes, premature discontinuation of treatment due to the patient's personal circumstances led to deterioration and an extended treatment timeline. This case demonstrates the effectiveness of a structured, multidisciplinary strategy in anterior tooth restoration and emphasizes the critical role of consistent clinician-patient communication in achieving optimal outcomes.
