PERSON'S PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING AS A PREREQUISITE FOR MENTAL HEALTH
1Yerevan State University, Armenia.
Abstract:
The proposed studies are devoted to psychological well-being of the individual and mental health. Young psychologists, who are engaged in professional activities and are most involved in research work related to mental health, were selected as a representative group. From the initial analyses, it becomes clear that young psychologists monitor their own health, strive for well-being, and note fatigue and busyness as difficulties. They attach particular importance to the subjective feeling of health as the main guarantee of mental health. The research data were divided into two subgroups based on indicators of high and relatively low health. Significant differences were obtained between the indicators of psychological well-being, and interesting patterns were revealed. The final conclusions concern the close relationship between the components of psychological well-being and mental health - especially personal growth, a positive attitude towards life, a sense of healthy life and attitude towards oneself. Among young professional psychologists (education, work experience, involvement in activities), a positive attitude toward mental health and a sense of healthy living are strong, closely linked to the presence of life goals and a positive self-perception. These connections together contribute to a realistic understanding of psychological well-being.
