Abstract:
The development of novel acaricides is crucial to combating the growing resistance of phytophagous mites to traditional pesticides. This study presents FM-8007, a potent biphenyl bistrifluoroethyl sulfide acaricide, designed through systematic structural optimization. FM-8007 exhibits broad-spectrum efficacy against Tetranychus cinnabarinus, with LC50 values of 1.1 mg/L for adults, 0.25 mg/L for larvae, and 0.85 mg/L for eggs, comparable to the commercial standard cyetpyrafen. Field trials demonstrated its lasting effectiveness in controlling Panonychus citri, maintaining ≥95 % efficacy for over 30 days. The structure-activity relationship (SAR) analysis identified key features essential for high efficacy, including an intact biphenyl scaffold with dual CF3CH2S- groups and specific electron-withdrawing substituents. FM-8007 provides a promising new tool for integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
