Isolated abdominal aortic dissection (IAAD) treatment is uncertain. Sealing entry tears with an Amplatzer Vascular Plug II (AVP II) effectively reduced aneurysm size and leakage, offering a less invasive option for IAAD management.
Area of Science:
- Vascular Surgery
- Interventional Cardiology
- Aortic Disease Management
Background:
- Isolated abdominal aortic dissection (IAAD) is a rare condition with unclear treatment guidelines.
- Endovascular plugs show promise for thoracic dissections, but their use in IAAD is not well-established.
- Conservative management is typical, but rapid aneurysmal expansion poses rupture risk.
