Vaginal breech delivery is a specific obstetric situation in which informed consent is of major importance. This prospective study evaluates the impact of an educational video designed to inform patients about the methods, risks, and benefits of different delivery options. Fourteen pregnant women with a fetus in a breech presentation watched an explanatory video and then completed a questionnaire assessing their understanding, anxiety level, and delivery preference. The results suggest an overall improvement in understanding, a partial reduction in anxiety, and a change in initial opinion among one-third of participants. The video promoted self-reflection, supported decision-making autonomy, and alleviated the emotional burden associated with this complex decision. Patients from the medical field were more favorable towards cesarean section, suggesting an influence of professional representations. This educational video has proven effective in improving the transmission of information, supporting autonomous decision-making, and reducing, at least partially, the anxiety associated with breech delivery. Its integration into clinical practice could promote informed consent and support patients in an interactive care pathway that respects their needs.

Mitral Valve Prolapse II: Assessment and Management

IntroductionA range of clinical features characterizes Mitral Valve Prolapse (MVP), but it is important to note that many individuals with MVP are asymptomatic and may remain so throughout their lives. For those who do exhibit symptoms, the following are the key clinical features:Palpitations: This is a common symptom where individuals feel an irregular or rapid heartbeat. Palpitations in MVP are often due to arrhythmias such as premature ventricular contractions or supraventricular...

Endoscopic Procedures III: Video Capsule Endoscopy

Capsule endoscopy, or wireless or video capsule endoscopy, is a diagnostic procedure for examining the entire gastrointestinal tract. Patients swallow a capsule about the size of a vitamin tablet. The capsule is equipped with a transmitter, a battery, an LED light source, and a color video camera to capture images throughout the gastrointestinal tract. This procedure is particularly useful for diagnosing conditions such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, tumors, polyps, ulcers,...

Tracheostomy Suctioning I: Pre-Procedural Steps

Tracheostomy suctioning is a critical procedure healthcare professionals perform to maintain a patent airway in patients with a tracheostomy tube. This procedure is necessary when secretions accumulate in the airway, causing respiratory distress. Here is a step-wise procedural guide for performing tracheostomy suctioning using an open system.
Equipment Required
First, gather all necessary equipment: a sterile suction catheter, a sterile disposable container, sterile gloves, a towel or...

Endoscopic Studies II: Thoracocentesis

Thoracentesis(Thoracocentesis), commonly known as pleural tap, is a medical procedure where a 22 gauge needle is inserted into the pleural space, the area between the lung and chest wall. This procedure is commonly performed to diagnose or treat various respiratory disorders.
Description
Excess pleural fluid or air may accumulate in some respiratory disorders in the thoracic cavity. To treat pleural effusion, a physician conducts thoracentesis by carefully piercing the chest wall and entering...
