Pure tympanic paraganglioma: A characteristic case with imaging correlation

Tympanic paragangliomas represent a rare subset of head and neck paragangliomas, with purely tympanic localization being exceptionally uncommon. We report the case of a 60-year-old female who presented with progressive unilateral hearing loss and pulsatile tinnitus. High-resolution computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) demonstrated a well-defined, enhancing lesion confined to the tympanic cavity, consistent with a pure tympanic paraganglioma. This case highlights the rarity of pure tympanic paragangliomas and underscores the pivotal role of multimodality imaging in their diagnosis and management.
