Abstract:
In this review, the thematic of low-pressure flow injection chromatography is discussed. A brief introduction to frame and discern the developments of flow analysis techniques combined with chromatographic columns is presented. Thereafter, focus is given to published works based on low-pressure flow injection chromatography, organized based on the following considerations: first, the experimental aspects related to the implementation of these manifolds are compiled in respect to mobile phase propulsion systems, sample injection, chromatographic column typologies, detectors, data acquisition and additional devices used to improve the analytical system performance; second, the potentialities of coupling chromatographic columns are presented, in terms of chromatographic separation mechanisms exploited, case studies and chromatographic performance of the analytical systems. Some final remarks and future perspectives are lastly addressed.
