The development of emerging artificial intelligence (AI) technologies has led to an increase in data volumes, placing higher requirements for information photonic systems. Integrated lasers are core functional components in photonics to provide optical signals. Here, we review integrated laser technologies for AI applications, from device to system level. In the beginning, we summarized the transmitter technologies, trends, and requirements, which are the primary driving forces for lasers. Then, we discussed integrated III-V lasers based on different photonic platforms in detail. For the system level, we summarized the recent progress of representative applications for AI based on integrated laser technologies.
