Aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 mitigates acrolein-driven ferroptosis to preserve kidney function

Acrolein causes kidney damage by inducing ferroptosis and mitochondrial dysfunction. Activating aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) protects against this injury, especially in individuals with the ALDH2*2 variant.
