Inhibitory Effect of Fucoidan Combined with Bifidobacteria on Helicobacter pylori

Abstract:
In the study, fucoidan (FUC) was shown to have antigastric digestive properties and promote the growth of B. animalis BD7, a gastric fluid-resistant, highly aggregative Bifidobacterium. The combination of FUC and B. animalis BD7 significantly inhibited the adhesion of H. pylori SS1 to gastric mucosal epithelial cells (GES-1), decreased urease activity (71.24 ± 3.29%), and promoted the synthesis of bacterial inhibitory substances in vitro, while in vivo, it could alleviate the inflammation of the gastric mucosa of the infected mice, regulate the level of inflammatory factors, and repair the mucosal barrier by a mechanism that is related to the inhibition of the TLR2/MyD88/NF-κB pathway and reversal of bacterial colony disorders. The mechanism is related to the inhibition of the TLR2/MyD88/NF-κB pathway and the reversal of flora disruption. The synergistic effects of the two provide theoretical and practical basis for the development of new anti-H. pylori food and optimization of clinical treatment.
