  • To identify areas for improvement in the management of cognitive impairment.

  • Cross-sectional survey of neurologists and their MCI/AD patients in China.

  • Patient-reported outcomes included quality of life and diagnostic delays.

  • Median time from symptom onset to first consultation was 18.1 weeks; 34.7% had moderate/severe AD at initial visit.
  • 80.0% were not diagnosed at initial consultation, with a median diagnostic delay of 4.4 weeks.
  • Significant caregiver burden reported, with non-professional caregivers spending 36.7-47.3 hours/week.

Conclusions:

  • Early detection and accurate diagnosis of MCI/AD are critical.
  • Improvements are needed to reduce the burden on patients, care partners, and society.
