Nitrative stress activates JNK, impairing brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) transport in basal forebrain cholinergic neurons (BFCNs). Inhibiting JNK prevents this deficit, suggesting a target for age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease.
