Leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) activity markers correlate with tau pathology and granulovacuolar degeneration bodies (GVBs) in neurodegenerative diseases. This suggests LRRK2 phosphorylation of Rab proteins may contribute to GVB and tau accumulation.
