Introduction:
The analgesic efficacy of erector spinae plane block (ESPB) for postoperative analgesia after percutaneous nephrolithotomy(PCNL).
Methods:
We searched Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane library, the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, and randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing analgesic efficacy of ESPB for PCNL are included in this meta-analysis.The related trials met the inclusion criteria were analyzed using RevMan 5.4 and GRADE pro software.
Results:
Nine RCTs are included in the meta-analysis showed that ESPB group had significantly lower requirement of opioid consumption (MD-20.66 ,95% CI -34.84 to-6.49;P<0.00001),lower pain scores with ESPB use throughout the 24-hour postop period(MD -0.56,95% CI -0.90 to -0.22;P=0.001) and longer the first rescue time in minutes(MD52.68, 95% CI 8.66 to 96.7,P=0.02) ,in hours (MD11.76, 95% CI 5.59 to 17.92, P=0.0002),respectively.
Conclusion:
The available evidence suggests that ESPB was an efficient and safe procedure for postoperative pain management in PCNL.
