Background:

Occupational disruption (OD) is prevalent in the perinatal period for working mothers.
Occupational therapy (OT) may offer strategies to enhance occupational balance (OB).

Purpose of the Study:

To assess the effectiveness of an OT intervention in boosting knowledge of perinatal OB strategies among working first-time mothers (WFTMs).

Main Methods:

A virtual OT educational workshop was delivered to 30 perinatal WFTMs.
The workshop covered stress management, energy conservation, sleep hygiene, and routine management.
Pre- and post-intervention surveys measured OD and self-reported OB strategy knowledge.

Main Results:

Participants reported moderate OD across all OB constructs.
Significant improvements were observed in knowledge of energy conservation strategies (p = .003).
Overall knowledge of OB strategies significantly improved (p = .001).

Conclusions:

OT intervention effectively enhances OB strategy knowledge in perinatal WFTMs.
Integrating OB education into perinatal care holds potential benefits for maternal well-being.
