    Summary

Recurring hyperplastic gastric polyps can develop in the stomach remnant after surgery. Reflux bile gastritis may be a key factor in their recurrence, impacting patient health.

    Area of Science:

    • Gastroenterology
    • Surgical Pathology

    Background:

    • Gastric polyps are histologically classified into hyperplastic polyps and adenomas.
    • Hyperplastic polyps are reactive, not neoplastic, lesions often linked to mucosal injury.

    Observation:

    • This study examines the uncommon occurrence of hyperplastic gastric polyps in the gastric remnant post-subtotal gastrectomy.
    • Two cases of symptomatic, recurring hyperplastic gastric polyps following this surgery are presented.

    Findings:

    • Recurring hyperplastic gastric polyps were observed in the gastric remnant after subtotal gastrectomy.
    • Clinical, radiologic, and pathological data from two cases highlight this phenomenon.

    Implications:

    • The findings suggest a potential link between reflux bile gastritis and the development of recurrent hyperplastic gastric polyps.
    • Further research into the etiology of these polyps in post-gastrectomy patients is warranted.
