Submucosal Angiolipoma of the Nasopharynx

Angiolipoma is a benign adipocytic tumor composed of mature adipose tissue and prominent vascular channels. Its occurrence in the nasopharynx is exceptionally rare owing to minimal local adipose tissue. Here, the authors report a 75-year-old man presenting with a 5-month history of throat fullness. Endoscopy revealed a pedunculated submucosal mass on the posterior nasopharyngeal wall, which was completely excised endoscopically. Histopathology confirmed a submucosal angiolipoma, and postoperative recovery was uneventful. Nasopharyngeal angiolipoma is an exceedingly rare benign tumor. Diagnosis requires histopathologic confirmation, and complete excision is the most effective treatment. Awareness of this rare variant is crucial when evaluating submucosal masses in the nasopharyngeal.
