Abstract:
We present the technique and use of a serratus anterior fascia flap to provide autologous inferolateral coverage of a pre-pectoral breast implant beneath a laterally based inframammary incision for nipple-sparing mastectomy. This approach combines the cosmetic and functional advantages of pre-pectoral reconstruction with the benefits of providing an autologous, cost-effective barrier. This can be used with or without acellular dermal matrix or mesh over the implant. We describe this technique as an additional tool in the surgical repertoire for immediate implant-based pre-pectoral breast reconstruction.
