Terahertz (THz) technology holds transformative potential for next-generation wireless communication, noninvasive bioimaging, and advanced security screening. However, conventional detection schemes face fundamental compromises among bandwidth, sensitivity, and operational constraints. Here, we propose a detection mechanism enabled by quantum geometry (QG), which leverages topological band properties such as Berry curvature and quantum metric effects to generate THz photocurrents at room temperature without external bias. We systematically classify these devices into high-order response detectors (e.g., nonlinear Hall rectifiers) and low-order systems (e.g., anomalous and spin Hall devices), highlighting achieved performance benchmarks including broadband operation exceeding 75 THz and ultralow noise-equivalent power. This reviewed progress establishes a transformative paradigm for scalable, topologically enhanced THz photodetectors, with significant implications for 6G wireless communication, label-free biosensing, and integrated quantum photonics.
