Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the effectiveness and user satisfaction of a multilingual generative AI chatbot, Rosie, for maternal and infant health education.
To assess the impact of AI pipeline improvements and multilingual capabilities on user experience.

Main Methods:

A randomized controlled trial was conducted with pregnant and postpartum women using the Rosie chatbot.
User interactions (30,188 questions from 197 users) and a satisfaction survey (84 participants) were analyzed.
The chatbot employed a 3-stage AI pipeline: retriever, re-ranker, and generative model.

Main Results:

Users submitted an average of 2.73 questions daily, with peak activity in evenings.
Highly rated topics included infant feeding, developmental milestones, and symptom management.
Survey results showed high ratings: 86% for quality, 91% for usefulness, 95% for clarity, and 84% for satisfaction.

The Rosie chatbot shows potential to transform health information delivery, offering a scalable, personalized, and cost-efficient solution.
