Abstract:
We synthesized a biomimetic composite material with a cell membrane-like structure (denoted TE-35), using a microwave-assisted impregnation method to deposit commercial nanoscale titanium dioxide onto the layered zeolite ECNU-35. The layered zeolite support leverages its high specific surface area and large pore volume to provide exceptional mass transfer efficiency and pollutant enrichment capability while simultaneously ensuring the uniform and stable distribution of photocatalytic active centers. Under light irradiation, TE-35 exhibits 10%-50% enhanced pollutant removal efficiency in comparison to catalysts with bulk or thicker nanosheets morphologies. The catalytic performance of TE-35 could be effectively regenerated through washing and calcination. Experimental and computational studies reveal that the biomimetic structure of TE-35 significantly enhances the adsorption and degradation efficiency of organic substances. In addition, titanium dioxide on TE-35 displayed an advantageous photogenerated carrier separation efficiency. This study not only expands the material options for treating polluted water but also provides valuable insights for the design of advanced biomimetic materials.
