Purpose of the Study:

  • To survey Australian health practitioners on their knowledge and practices concerning evidence-based OA diagnosis, treatment, and collaborative care.
  • To identify gaps in current understanding and application of OA management strategies.
  • To inform the development of targeted educational initiatives for healthcare professionals.

  • A validated tool, the Survey on Ocular Allergy for Health Practitioners (SOAHP), was distributed to diverse health professionals across Australia in 2022.

Conclusions:

  • Significant knowledge and practice gaps exist among Australian health practitioners regarding ocular allergy.
  • Ophthalmologists and Optometrists demonstrated better adherence to evidence-based practices compared to GPs and Pharmacists.
  • Targeted educational interventions are essential to enhance patient-centered care for OA and reduce healthcare system burden.
