Teeth Preservation Esthetically through Unison of Periodontology, Endodontics, and Prosthodontics: An Original

Background:
Tooth preservation remains the cornerstone of modern dentistry, especially in esthetically critical regions. Multidisciplinary approaches combining periodontology, endodontics, and prosthodontics have demonstrated potential in preserving natural dentition with optimal esthetic outcomes.
Methods:
A prospective clinical study was conducted on 60 patients (aged between 25 and 55 years) presenting with anterior teeth exhibiting periodontal pockets (>5 mm), endodontic involvement, and structural damage. Patients were randomly assigned into two groups: Group A (multidisciplinary treatment) and Group B (conventional extraction and implant-supported prosthesis). Esthetic outcomes were assessed using the Pink Esthetic Score (PES) and White Esthetic Score (WES), while patient satisfaction was recorded using a 10-point visual analogue scale (VAS). Measurements were taken at baseline, six months, and 12 months.
Results:
Group A demonstrated significant improvement in PES (mean increase from 5.6 ± 1.2 to 8.4 ± 0.9, P < 0.001) and WES (6.1 ± 1.4 to 9.2 ± 1.1, P < 0.001) compared to Group B (PES: 6.0 ± 1.0 to 7.2 ± 1.3; WES: 6.3 ± 1.2 to 7.5 ± 1.0). Patient satisfaction was also higher in Group A at 12 months (VAS: 9.1 ± 0.6 vs. 7.5 ± 1.1, P < 0.01).
Conclusion:
The interdisciplinary approach demonstrated superior esthetic results and patient-reported satisfaction in anterior tooth preservation. Collaborative treatment planning among specialists in periodontology, endodontics, and prosthodontics is essential for successful esthetic rehabilitation.
