Insights
This study analyzed catheter ablation (CA) strategies in Nagano Prefecture. The Shinshu-AB Registry provides real-world data on CA efficacy and safety for various arrhythmias.
Area of Science:
- Cardiology
- Electrophysiology
- Medical Research
Background:
- Catheter ablation (CA) is a standard arrhythmia treatment.
- Limited investigation into CA strategies exists.
- Geographical and resource limitations in Nagano Prefecture impact CA accessibility.
Purpose of the Study:
- Investigate detailed CA strategies in Nagano Prefecture.
- Clarify the efficacy and safety of CA in this region.
- Utilize the Shinshu Catheter Ablation (Shinshu-AB) Registry for data collection.
Main Methods:
- Prospective observational multicenter registry (Shinshu-AB Registry).
- Inclusion of patients undergoing CA for any arrhythmia.
- Collection and analysis of data on arrhythmia type, CA strategy, outcomes, and complications.
- Registration in UMIN Clinical Trials Registry (UMIN-55562).
Main Results:
- Primary endpoints: composite incidence of arrhythmia recurrence, procedure-related adverse events, and cardiovascular events.
- Secondary endpoints: acute success, chronic success (>12 months), and all-cause death.
- Data analysis performed at Shinshu University Hospital.
Conclusions:
- The Shinshu-AB Registry offers real-world data on CA.
- Provides insights into outcomes and complications of CA for diverse arrhythmias in Nagano Prefecture.
Background:
Catheter ablation (CA) is a well-established therapy for arrhythmia, but the impact of CA strategies has not been thoroughly investigated. Nagano Prefecture comprises a large geographical area and some hospitals do not have cardiac surgeons, thus limiting the application of CA strategies. The aim of this study was to investigate the detailed strategies for CA in Nagano Prefecture and to clarify their efficacy and safety.
Methods And Results:
The Shinshu Catheter Ablation (Shinshu-AB) Registry is a multicenter prospective observational registry. Patients treated with CA for any type of arrhythmia are included. Data on the target arrhythmia(s), CA strategy, outcomes, and complications were collected and analyzed at Shinshu University Hospital. The study was approved by the institutional review boards of all investigational sites and registered in the UMIN Clinical Trials Registry (UMIN-55562). Primary endpoints were the composite incidence of arrhythmia recurrence, procedure-related adverse events, and cardiovascular events. The secondary endpoints were acute success, chronic success for >12 months, and all-cause death.
Conclusions:
The Shinshu-AB Registry provides real-world data from the Nagano Prefecture on the outcomes and complications of CA for various types of arrhythmias.
