Vitamin D deficiency and multiple sclerosis relapse: a meta-analysis.

Vitamin D supplementation increases 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. Low to medium doses significantly reduce annualized relapse rate (ARR), while high doses do not show a significant effect.

- Low/medium-dose vitamin D may be beneficial in reducing MS relapses, whereas high-dose supplementation shows no significant effect.
- Vitamin D supplementation did not significantly impact Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) scores.
