    Area of Science:

    • Ophthalmology
    • Teratology
    • Neuroscience

    Background:

    • Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) is a potent psychoactive drug with known hallucinogenic properties.
    • Exposure to teratogens during the first trimester of pregnancy can lead to severe fetal developmental abnormalities.
    • Ocular development is particularly sensitive to environmental insults during early gestation.
