The majority of older adults, the major consumers of health care, have multiple chronic conditions (MCCs). These individuals often face complex tradeoffs, conflicting guidelines, and uncertain, fragmented care not focused on what matters most to them. The "Patient Priorities Care" (PPC) framework addresses these issues by aligning healthcare with patients' values, goals, and healthcare preferences, promoting shared decision-making and building trust. One nursing school implemented a 5-part PPC training in their NP curriculum. Evaluation of the PPC module responses indicated >90 % of NP students endorsed a self-reported understanding of PPC and found the training valuable for their future clinical practice. However, 17 % of students expressed a lack of confidence in applying PPC, highlighting the need for enhanced training. Future steps include integrating standardized patient experiences to better prepare NPs to use PPC. Additionally, supervised learning in clinic is needed to ensure effective, patient-focused decision-making for older adults with MCCs.
