Abstract:
In 2022, The National Task Force on Quality Nurse Practitioner Education called for increasing the minimum clinical training hours to 750. There is little research to support this recommendation, and there are several potential negative effects to consider, including decreasing access to clinical training. There are other approaches to consider that focus on the quality of training without increasing the demands placed on preceptors.
