Purpose Of Review:
Corynebacteriumstriatum (C. striatum) has rapidly evolved into a virulent, multidrug-resistant pathogen in recent years. This review aims to summarize the pathogenesis, clinical characteristics, and treatment strategies associated with C. striatum-related infection.
Recent Findings:
The recent advances in epidemiology, newly identified virulence and resistance determinants are highlighted. Therapeutic failure in affected patients has been associated with poor, and sometimes fatal, outcomes. Notably, clinical manifestations and therapeutic approaches vary depending on the site of infection. Potential therapeutic targets (including novel promising antibacterial agents, and combination therapy approaches), and the clinical characteristics associated with C. striatum infection are summarized.
Summary:
