Abstract:
Herein, we present the first Co(III)-catalysed efficient metal-ligand cooperative route for the synthesis of quinazolinones via dehydrogenation of primary alcohols. An air-stable phosphine-free Co(III) complex anchored by a hexadentate ligand was efficiently utilized for the synthesis of a wide variety of quinazolinone derivatives (28 examples).

Metal-Ligand Bonds
In these complexes, transition metals form coordinate covalent bonds, a kind of Lewis acid-base interaction in which both of the electrons in the bond are contributed by a donor (Lewis base) to an electron acceptor (Lewis acid). The Lewis acid in...

Ethers from Alcohols: Alcohol Dehydration and Williamson Ether Synthesis
Ethers can be prepared from organic compounds by various methods. Some of them are discussed below,
Preparation of Ethers by Alcohol Dehydration
In this method, in the presence of protic acids, alcohol dehydrates to produce alkenes and ethers under different conditions. For example, in the presence of sulphuric acid, dehydration of ethanol at 413 K yields ethoxyethane, whereas it yields ethene at 443 K.
