Background:

Recurrent thunderclap headache is a concerning symptom.
Reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS) is a condition characterized by temporary narrowing of cerebral arteries.
Hyperthyroidism is a condition involving overactive thyroid gland.

Purpose of the Study:

To report a case of RCVS associated with hyperthyroidism.
To discuss the potential link between RCVS and thyroid function.

Main Methods:

Case report of a 55-year-old woman.
Clinical presentation: recurrent thunderclap headache triggered by bathing, showering, and Valsalva maneuver.
Investigations: laboratory tests for hyperthyroidism, MRI for subarachnoid hemorrhage and cerebral vasospasm.

Main Results:

The patient presented with symptoms suggestive of RCVS.
Laboratory results indicated hyperthyroidism.
MRI confirmed convexity subarachnoid hemorrhage and cerebral artery vasospasm.

Conclusions:

The patient was diagnosed with both RCVS and hyperthyroidism.
The association between RCVS and hyperthyroidism is infrequently reported and merits further research.
Thyroid function may play a role in the pathophysiology of RCVS.
