Summary

This study introduces an AI model for objective assessment of therapeutic emesis (vamana karma), a traditional Ayurvedic detoxification method. The AI framework analyzes vomitus and patient gestures to reduce subjectivity and improve clinical outcomes in this ancient practice.

Background:

Therapeutic emesis (vamana karma) is a classical Ayurvedic detoxification method.
Current assessment relies on subjective visual evaluation by physicians, leading to variability.
Human error and missed observations can occur during monitoring.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop and validate an AI-assisted digital framework for objective evaluation of therapeutic emesis.
The framework aims for automatic vomitus detection, content classification, and monitoring of patient gestures.
To provide a data-driven approach for determining detoxification type and post-procedure dietary recommendations.

Main Methods:

A 3-phase study involving standard operating procedure development for data collection.
Data annotation of detected vomiting events using Python libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow).
Model performance evaluation using machine learning metrics and Fleiss κ statistic for expert agreement.

Main Results:

Data collection completed, with ongoing annotation and preliminary model preparation.
Final testing and validation are expected by December 2025.
External testing in healthcare settings is planned for February 2026.

Conclusions:

This study pioneers the application of deep learning for objective analysis of therapeutic emesis in Ayurveda.
The AI framework combines YOLOv9 and residual neural networks for accurate automated vomit identification.
