Right ventricular failure after left ventricular assist device implantation is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. The use of percutaneous right ventricular assist devices for treatment in this clinical situation is increasing, but these devices are prone to migration with limited options for revision or repositioning. We describe a case of a patient whose device was repositioned safely using a balloon-assisted tracking technique with a peripheral angioplasty balloon, analogous to the technique developed to advance catheters past radial artery stenoses in coronary interventions.
