Background:
Appendiceal bleeding is an infrequent cause of lower gastrointestinal bleeding (LGIB), accounting for only 0.014% of cases.
Case Report:
We present the case of a 48-year-old male on heparin who developed an acute LGIB from the appendicular artery requiring coil embolization and subsequently developed appendicitis.
Conclusion:
This case highlights appendicitis as a potential complication of appendiceal artery embolization. Careful patient selection and consideration of alternative approaches, including upfront surgery or endoscopic therapy, are essential in managing appendiceal artery bleeds.
