Abstract:
To form a closed circulatory system, developing cardiac inflow tract endocardium must connect to the endothelium of great veins and arteries. In this issue of Developmental Cell, Fukumoto et al.1 demonstrate a zippering mechanism that achieves this and balances the forces of endocardial elongation and heartbeat through control of cadherin-6.
